What is Koonji and how do I use it?
Koonji, meaning "Key" or "Cliff Notes" in Hindi (an Indian language), is a how-to guide
that helps you in getting things done more efficiently on the web. Koonji breaks down any task into multiple steps and
provides you the best resources available for that step alongwith helpful tips. So you no longer need to
go through pages and pages of results on a traditional search engine and organize them according to your needs. It is
all done for you in the Koonji. And, since we aggregate community knowledge in determining the best resources available,
you are benefiting from others who have gone through the process before you.
We also make it easy for you to navigate through the links in the Koonji by having them available to you at the
top of the browser for easy access. And with our Koonji toolbar, you can also highlight any portion of the
website and save it in the Koonji for later access - no more bookmarking, tagging or printing pages!
Here is a step-by-step overview of how you can use Koonji. Please click on each step below to
see the details.
Koonji Toolbar Goes with You
Find Koonji
The first thing you would want to do at our site is find a Koonji that is
related to what you want to do. You can either search for them by typing in a query (we
have listed some popular searches to aid you in finding the right search terms) or browse through
our many Koonji lists on Home and Explore pages to see if one of those Koonjis are of interest to you.
The latter option is likely to be better in the initial phases of our site release since
we are likely to have very few koonjis in the system.
Follow the Steps
Once you have selected the koonji that you want to use, you can look at the details of
the koonji and start following it step-by-step. Of course, you are free to start from whichever step you
desire and skip steps in-between as you please. After looking at the steps, you may want to click on the links
that are available in each step to navigate to the page that is linked there. This is where the relevant content
is that the koonji creator or contributor wanted you to look at.
Koonji Toolbar Goes with You
As you click on a link in any of the steps in a koonji, you will see that the koonji
travels with you - if you have downloaded our plugin, the koonji details shows up in the toolbar, otherwise it will
show up in a frame at the top (as many sites do not like to be under another frame, they may try to kill our frame and
in that case the koonji detail will disappear. We highly encourage you to download our plugin to have a smoother
and rich experience. You can click on any step on the top and it will show you the links and tips
that the step contains so you do not have to go back and forth to follow the step.
Clip 'N Save
If you have downloaded the plugin, you are also able to clip
and save snippets from the site that you visit - these can be any site, not just the site
that are in the koonji. You simply highlight the text, image, link, etc. that you want saved
and click your right mouse button. You will see our "Save Selection as Koonji Clippings.." menu
option. Just select that and the popup menu will show. You can change all the entries there
but we have provided default value for all required entry so you can just capture the clipping.
That is it, you are done. You can go to "My Page" to see your current koonjis and their
associated clippings.
