What is Koonji?
Koonji is an interactive guide that assists you with any online activity, for example buying an hdtv, planning a birthday party, finding a job, etc. It provides a step-by-step process for accomplishing the task and travels with you to guide you through the process. It also learns from the community as they are using it so that it can get better over time.
How do I use Koonji?
There is a detailed "step-by-step" guide on how to use Koonji here. Remember to click on the step images at the top to get details on each step.
What can I create a Koonji for?
Koonji can be created for almost anything where people can use a step-by-step process to get something done. Think of something you have done recently, or something you do quite frequently where you can share your process with others so that they do not need to invent it for themselves. Don't think that your process is too simple, or most people already know how to get something done. You will be surprised how often a simple process is all people are looking for since they do not always have time to think of each step or find all the relevant information before they make their decisions.
What does a Koonji look like (i.e. structure of Koonji)?
We have taken all measures to keep the structure of Koonjis very simple. All Koonjis have one or more steps and each step has a brief text description, followed by links that point users to the relevant information available on the web. Please make sure the links point to the exact information you want users to look at and not just to the home page of the site. You can also add some useful tips in each step of a Koonji. That is it. It is that straightforward.
How do I get started?
You may want to start by reviewing a few Koonjis already in the system. The best way to do that is to click on the "Featured Koonjis" tab on the home page and browse through a few of them to get an idea of what Koonjis look like. As you will notice, the most important part of a Koonji is the "step-by-step" process itself. If you can get the steps right, you or others can help to add the relevant links and tips as the Koonji is used. So we strongly recommend that you think about the steps that you want your Koonji to have before you start creating one. Also, you should save the Koonji as "draft" (there is a button marked for this purpose) till you are happy with your steps. You will not be able to change the steps after a Koonji is published in the public domain. This is to prevent people from editing a Koonji that people have already started using or added more content to. Of course, you (and others) can keep adding links and tips to the published as much as you desire.
Why should I create Koonjis?
Besides feeling good about helping others and being recognized as an expert (we prominently display the creator of a Koonji and include a link to your page), we are considering an opportunity for you to make some money for your contributions. We are contemplating a revenue share plan where a significant portion of direct revenue generated from a Koonji is shared with the creator and key contributors to that Koonji. So it would encourage not only creation of new Koonjis but also an attempt to make the existing Koonjis better so that the overall quality of all the Koonjis improve over time. As soon as we finalize these plans, we will be posting them on the site.
What are clippings?
A clipping (or snippet) can be any part of a webpage (including images, texts, links etc.) that is of interest to you. Instead of printing or saving the entire page (or a link to it) or scribbling notes on scrap paper, you can now save these clippings with just a mouse click. So you can go site to site and select exactly the information that you want to save, all with our Koonji toolbar.
How can I save and access the clippings?
It is as easy as 1, 2, 3...
What does MyPage contain?
MyPage is where you can access all you personal content from, including your profile, your clippings that you may have collected while browsing, Koonjis that you have created, your friends and favorites, etc. This is also the page that others will see (the publicly visible sections of it) when they click on your name or you can point them to this page by posting the link wherever you want, including your blog, personal page etc.
